Vinehout Goes on Record Opposing Job Creation
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
September 29, 2011
[Madison, WI…] The Committee to Elect a Republican Senate (CERS) reacted today to Senator Kathleen Vinehout’s criticism of the bipartisan “Special Session on Jobs” that Governor Walker initiated this week.
“Kathleen Vinehout needs to make a decision whether she wants to contribute to job-creation efforts, or just send out press releases to appease the left-wing radicals that occupied the State Capitol last spring,” said CERS Executive Director Dan Romportl.
“Vinehout has done virtually nothing during this legislative session except call for boycotts against companies in her district, hang out in Illinois for three weeks on the taxpayers’ dime, and now, criticize her colleagues from both sides of the aisle for trying to stimulate job creation.”
Vinehout levied criticism on efforts to create jobs by stating, “The Special Session on Jobs sounds remarkably similar to the Special Session on Jobs the Governor proposed in January.” The January Special Session resulted in passage of almost a dozen job-creation bills which helped improve a poor business climate which Vinehout helped create. The January Special Session was so successful that Wisconsin jumped from 41st to 24th in Chief Executive Magazine’s “Best States for Business”, the largest jump of any state in the nation.
“Criticizing efforts to create jobs and supporting boycotts of companies like Kwik Trip prove that Kathleen Vinehout is completely out of touch with her district,” Romportl concluded. “She has moved beyond hyper-partisanship, and sadly, her constituents that are in need of good-paying jobs are the ones being left without a productive voice in the state senate.”
