[Madison]…Recalled Senator Jim Holperin’s campaign has been accused of violating copyright laws stemming from its unauthorized use of material produced by a Georgia broadcasting company.

Watchmen Broadcasting sent a cease and desist letter to the Holperin campaign requesting that they stop using footage of GOP candidate Kim Simac in a misleading attack ad they’ve been airing in the 12th Senate District.

“This does not come as a surprise to us,” said John Hogan, Executive Director of the Committee to Elect a Republican Senate.  “Jim Holperin has a long established history of not abiding by the same rules as everyone else.  First it was fleeing the state to avoid making a tough decision on government spending, and now it’s stealing copyrighted material to use in a misleading attack ad to confuse the voters of the 12th Senate District.”

In addition to breaking the law to tear down his opponent in a desperate attempt to hold onto his seat, a Holperin supporter was also arrested last week for stealing “Simac for Senate” yard signs from private residences.

Hogan added, “Jim Holperin needs to immediately stop running the misleading attack ad his campaign produced, and issue a formal apology to Watchmen Broadcasting, the Simac for Senate campaign, and the constituents he continues to fail with his irresponsible and cowardly actions.”
