New Radio Ad Highlights

Kreitlow, Vinehout Job-Killing Actions

(MADISON)… New radio ads airing today highlight the job-killing tax increases and pork barrel spending that Senators Pat Kreitlow (D-Chippewa Falls) and Kathleen Vinehout (D-Alma) supported this session.  The spots, paid for by the Committee to Elect a Republican Senate, draw attention to the thousands of jobs that have left Wisconsin after the senators raised taxes on employers last year, worsening the state’s business climate.

“The ads focus on the damage that has been done by Senators Kreitlow and Vinehout this session. They supported $5 billion in tax and fee increases on Wisconsin employers and families and increased government spending by over 6% in the middle of a recession,” said Senate Republican Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau). “This irresponsible budgeting has created an economic climate that employers simply can’t afford, driving them to states that encourage job growth.”

The radio ad features a caller phoning the State of Wisconsin to thank Kreitlow and Vinehout for voting to raise taxes that drove jobs to his state. More than 170,000 jobs have been lost in Wisconsin over the past four years, including long-time Wisconsin employers like Harley-Davidson, Briggs & Stratton, Polaris, and GM. Kreitlow and Vinehout supported burdensome tax increases and massive government spending that has led to Forbes ranking Wisconsin’s business climate among the worst in the nation. Some of the spending includes $40 million of pork that fund earmarks like a new scoreboard for a Milwaukee stadium.”

“Voters need to know that while they’re struggling to stay employed, Kreitlow and Vinehout are using their hard earned money for ridiculous pet projects,” said Fitzgerald. “They created an unsustainable level of government spending, leaving our state with a $2 billion deficit next year. Wisconsin families can’t afford big spenders like Vinehout and Kreitlow. Our state’s economic health hangs in the balance.”
